Types of Vinyl Blinds We Install in Ottawa
Vinyl blinds use PVC slats on ladder cords, with a tilt wand to angle the slats. They are the lowest-cost blind we sell, and with a proper measure they look tidy and last.
UV-Stabilized Vinyl Blinds
A UV stabilizer is added to the PVC so the slats resist yellowing and warping in strong sun. This is the version we quote for any south or west window.
Cordless Vinyl Blinds
Cordless lift removes the long pull cords, which matters in kids’ rooms and any home with pets.
Vinyl Blinds for Rentals
For landlords, we measure each unit separately, keep colours consistent across the building and can match the same blind years later when one gets damaged.

5 Places Vinyl Blinds Make Sense in an Ottawa Home
- Basement windows. Small, often shaded and rarely seen. Vinyl does the job for very little money.
- Laundry and furnace rooms. Humidity and lint do not bother PVC slats.
- Rental units. Easy to clean, cheap to swap between tenants.
- Garage and workshop windows. Tough enough for a dusty space.
- Short-term covers. Just moved in and saving for custom cellular? Vinyl covers the gap for a year or two.
What Stops Ottawa Homeowners From Buying Vinyl Blinds?
Price shock. Rarely. At $95-$350 per window installed, vinyl is our entry point. In our opinion, it is the right call for windows that need coverage, not a design statement.
Custom vs stock. The real worry with vinyl is looking cheap. That usually comes from a poor fit, not the material. A measured, made-to-size vinyl blind looks clean.
Is motorization worth it? No. Vinyl venetians are not a motorized product.
Delivery timeline. About 2-3 weeks, and often installed alongside other blinds on the same visit.

Do Vinyl Blinds Yellow in Sunny Windows?
Standard vinyl can, yes. PVC breaks down under UV, and in a west-facing Ottawa window that gets full afternoon sun, cheap vinyl can turn cream or yellow within two or three summers. It also gets brittle and can warp in the heat between the glass and the blind. UV-stabilized vinyl has an additive that slows this down a lot, and it costs only a little more. For any window that gets direct sun for several hours a day, we quote the UV version by default. For shaded basement windows, standard vinyl is fine. If you want something that will not change colour at all in strong sun, aluminum blinds are the next step up.
